Reading Response 1
(Question 2)

This artifact was created around the beginning of the semester to familiarize the students in ENC 1102 with rhetorical elements by reading the book called "Writing about Writing" by  Wardle and Downs. In this specific artifact, I was tasked with reading the list of rhetorical elements provided by Downs and choosing 2 elements that I found interesting as stated in the blue and yellow highlighted portion of the artifact. This artifact is an example of generating inquiry because as mentioned above I was tasked with exploring 2 rhetorical elements of inquiry which were motivation and knowledge-making. In addition to choosing rhetorical elements to explore, I also was able to generate a line of inquiry among the two by providing personal and realistic examples of each as seen next to the read highlighted lines.

This artifact, in addition, to being an example of generating inquiry also showed that from the beginning I was interested in the rhetorical element of Knowledge making which was ultimately a key part of my cultural research.

Brainstorm Line of Inquiry

This artifact was made in a classroom setting on the third or fourth week of the semester to brainstorm interests the students in ENC 1102 might be willing to research. In this brainstorming, the task was to develop inquiry, based on "interests" and "course concepts". In this artifact, the inquiry was generated by writing down certain interests or personal responsibilities. My brainstorming consisted of my being a "part-time daycare teacher", "Hispanic culture", and "Travis Scott's apology after the Astroworld incident". In addition to writing down a couple of interests, I held I also tried to organize them based on rhetorical elements as underlined by the black line. The underlined rhetorical elements are examples of me trying to explore the possibilities of fitting personal interest into a specific rhetorical element.

This artifact also showed my interest to generate inquiry around the use of culture in films because it was on the top of my interest list in the brainstorm activity.

Research Log 2

This artifact was created around the beginning of my research and demonstrates generating inquiry because it provides the initial research focus I wanted to take before starting the true research process. This artifact generating inquiry can be seen in the black underlined text which states "...decided to research film and knowledge making". This is an example of generating inquiry because I am planning on exploring the rhetorical element of knowledge-making with an additional focus on films as part of my research. In addition to providing the exploration that will be started a connection with the research was also stated which makes the exploration process enjoyable and less of a black and white task.
